Monoprinting with a Gelatin Plate,  July 24, Washtenaw Community College

In this workshop you will have fun printing one-of-a-kind fabrics using a gelatin plate.  The instructor will share printing techniques, paint-layering tricks, and an extensive collection of tools and textures for gelatin printing.  Start by putting some paint on the gelatin plate.  Roll it out, press some texture into it, and print.  The result is a first print and next a ghost print.  Keep your first printing or layer more texture on top.  You can even paint directly on the plate and print.  It is fast, fun, and easy.  At the end of the workshop, you will have a stack of your own unique montype fabric prints that can be used individually, pieced together, or cut up and made into a quilt.

Fabric Impressions, July 25, Washtenaw Community College

Mark making is a fast and inexpensive way to apply designs to fabric and is the foundation of layering imagery on cloth.  This workshop focuses on stamping and rolling techniques that generate overall repetitive patterns and focal points.  You will learn techniques that generate overall repetitive patterns and focal points.  You will learn techniques for block printing, placing images more randomly, grouping marks or motifs, and layering.  In additon you will develop a collection of printing tools that will work together or individually to create complex pattern on fabric.
